1993 - The beginning
"Planex" was set up in October 1990 as a sole trader limited liability company - ST "Planex-Plamen Andreev" with subject of activity design and construction and installation works. The first sites, new buildings, were private houses, a domestic building with a heating furnace installation of Eldominvest - Varna. In the following three years the company developed its business activity: it executed the reconstruction of hotels in the Golden Sands resort complex, as well as new construction shops, office premises and residential buildings on an entrepreneurial basis.
1993-2001
The increased volume of work required new organisation of the company activity - in October 1993 Planex Ltd. was established with partners eng. Plamen Andreev and eng. Hristo Dimitrov. In the period 1994-2001 Planex Ltd. specialised in complex building and overall equipment of hotels and office buildings.
Significant sites from this period are:
- Construction of the head office of Biohim bank in Varna and reconstruction of 25 bank branches,
- Construction of the office of "Reiffeisenbank",
- Office building of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company in Varna,
- Overall construction, equipment and fitting of the hotels "Zdravets", "Avrora", "Metropol", and "Mak" in the Golden Sands resort, "Iberostar Obzor Beach", "Evrika" hotel in the Sunny Beach resort,
- Plant for production of detergents of Hayat Chemical Bulgaria, etc.
The company continues to build residential buildings, houses and villas. For a period of seven years Planex Ltd. became a leader on the building market in Varna and the region, and the "Planex" trademark became a synonym of high quality, professionalism and trust. The aims set by Planex Ltd. with regards to work organisation, deadline observance, and quality guarantee, call for the establishment of companies for production of aluminium window frames, furniture, suspended ceilings, etc. Consequently in 1996 were set up "Planex Gealan" Ltd. (in 2004 renamed to "Planex Aluplast" Ltd.) - a company for production and installation of aluminium and PVC doors and windows (GEALAN system). In the same year, by the merger of the "Domeks" company and the furniture production department of Planex Ltd., was established "Planex LZ" PLC - a company for production of furniture from melamine decors and massive wood.
In 2000 were established:
- Planex Style Ltd. Associated company - a specialised company for execution of dry building - walls and ceilings from plasterboard, metal and mineral fibreboard suspended ceilings and facade panelling;
- Planet Tour Ltd. - a specialised company for hotel and restaurant management, which at present owns and manages the hotels "City Planet", "Planet", "Park-hotel", "Splendid" i Varna and "Sunny Planex" in the Sunny Beach resort.
In 2001 were established:
- "Planex Complect" Ltd. - a company for indoor electrical and special installations;
- "Stroymarket - Valchi dol" Ltd. - a company for construction materials and construction services trading.
2002 - 2007
Planex Holding - overall management of the construction and investment process
"Planex Holding" Ltd. was set up in 2002 for the purposes of control and management of all associated companies. This closes the cycle from the design and construction of the fitting and equipment of the sites. Planex Ltd. operates as the main executive company for the projects that are negotiated and invested in by Planex Holding Ltd. In this period were built the hotels "Victoria", "Iberostar Festa Panorama", "Teodora Beach", "Sirius", "Technopolis hypermarket, and the "Burlex" supermarket chain in Varna.
The "Panorama" residential complex was also built - it includes 120 flats.
In 2002 was set up Stromat Ltd. - a company for construction materials trading for the territory of Northeastern Bulgaria.
In 2004 was established PLH Invest Ltd., the company that realises the management of construction and investment projects, and property sales and management. The company for low buildings, territorial structure and outdoor surfaces Veplan Ltd. was also set up.
The Holding company activity allows Planex Ltd., in its capacity of a building company - Chief contractor, to rely on serious and correct partners in the person of all associated companies. This guarantees the quality and timely project implementation, regardless of their size.
In 2007 were established Planex Build Ltd., for building and building entrepreneurship in Sofia and Planex Nord Ltd. - building in the region of Kavarna and the Northern Black Sea coastline.
In the summer of 2007 Planex Ltd. completed the construction of the high-category residential complexes "Alfa" in Sofia, "Viva" and "Panorama 3" in Varna, the holiday complexes "Splendid St.Constantine" in the Ss.Constatnine and Helena resort complex and "Sozopol Dreams" in Sozopol. The construction of the "Galeria" complex in Obzor atarted.
For 16 years since its establishment Planex has increased the number of its personnel to almost 1500 employees and has become one of the most serious companies in the Bulgarian building business. For the last 4 years the total annual turnover doubled as compared to the previous year and for 2004 it amounts to 39 mln. BGN.
Planex was adjudicated the Zlaten otves award - building of the year for 1999, 2003 and 2005, and ranked first twice in the completition for 2001 and 2002 for residential and public building. The company is a holder of two first-place awards in the "Building of the year" national competition for 2003, and had two nominations in the competition for 2005. The company ranked 5th in Top 100 of the companies in Varna for 2004.

Planex Ltd. is a co-founder of the Varna Building Chamber, member of the Bulgarian Building Chamber, as well as of FIABCI - Bulgaria.
Eng. Hristo Dimitrov (Manager) is a member of the Board of managers of the Bulgarian Building and Construction Chamber. Eng. Plamen Andreev (Managing partner) was a chairman of the Varna Building Chamber until the end of March 2007, and is a member of BM of FIABCI - Bulgaria, member of the Bulgarian Chamber of Entrepreneurs, member of the Board of managers of the Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of the Building Advisory Board at the Municipality of Varna.
